David Garlick, D.V.M., D.A.C.V.P., Senior Staff Pathologist, HSRL

Director of Pathology

Dr. Garlick received his DVM from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in N. Grafton, Massachusetts in 1985. He also did his anatomic pathology residency in the Department of Pathology at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 1990 and since then has been involved with various aspects of preclinical drug discovery and development. Dr. Garlick has 20 years of experience in toxicologic pathology; having evaluated a wide variety of compounds in numerous species.  His areas of specialization and interest include safety evaluation of biologics, mouse models of human disease, and pathology evaluation of biomaterials.  He is an Adjunct Instructor for the Department of Cancer Biology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where, as the Head of the Mouse Histopathology Core at the Cancer Center, he provides expert histopathology consultation and interpretation of tissues collected from transgenic mice, mutant mice, and various mouse models of human diseases. David has also served as Clinical Instructor for the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine for over 10 years where he has taught first- and second-year students in general pathology, organology, and urinary system pathophysiology courses. Dr. Garlick maintains professional association affiliations and participates in relevant conferences and publications review.  He is active in the following professional societies: American College of Veterinary Pathologists, New England Comparative Pathology Colloquy, Society of Toxicologic Pathologists and the Boston Area Pharmaceutical Toxicology Group.  Dr. Garlick has co-authored over 40 scientific manuscripts and abstracts.
