Marcia Pereira DVM, MS, DACVP

Senior Staff Pathologist

Native to Brazil, Dr. Marcia Pereira graduated from the Federal University of Santa Maria in 2002, and attended Sao Paulo State University where she received her Master’s degree in Animal Pathology. In 2007, she completed her residency program in Veterinary Pathology at the Smithsonian National Zoo/Armed Force Institute of Pathology, in Washington DC. She earned her board certification from the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2008. Dr. Pereira began working as a toxicologic pathologist at a contract research organization in 2007 and, since then, she has evaluated a wide variety of compounds in numerous species. Dr. Pereira has a special interest in respiratory and male reproductive systems. She joined HSRL in 2010 and serves as study pathologist for both non-GLP and GLP-compliant short and long term toxicology preclinical studies. Dr. Pereira maintains a habit of continuing education through professional association affiliations, participation in relevant conferences as well as publications review. She is active in the following professional societies: American College of Veterinary Pathologists, Society of Toxicologic Pathology, Charles Louis Davis, DVM Foundation and the Latin Comparative Pathology Group.
