Facility
In our highly secure long-term archive, we can accommodate a variety of long-term storage needs. We can provide wet tissue storage, block storage (paraffin, plastic, or OCT), microscope slide storage, test article and paper data storage.
All of our cold-storage areas are monitored by a central station ensure consistent temperature range and function. In the event of electric power loss, all units are automatically routed to a propane back-up generator which can sustain the facility at full power for 30 days if necessary.
Security
At HSRL Archives, we are committed to having the most up to date security and monitoring equipment available. Therefore, our system was designed, installed and maintained/monitored by ASG Security – one of the top 20 alarm companies in the United States.
We have the following types of security measures in place to keep your material secure:
- Premises Burglary Hardwired and wireless systems signal unauthorized entry through use of contacts, door wiring, vibration, motion and sound detectors, invisible photoelectric beams, and passive infrared detection systems.
- Automatic Fire Alarms Detects fire by use of rate-of-rise and fixed temperature thermostats. This system detects smoke and extreme heat before major damage can occur, thus safeguarding valuable records, computers and lives.
- Industrial Monitoring Central Station detects whether certain conditions are normal or in need of attention, such as: power failure, temperature variations in each of our vaults, refrigerators or freezers, and other process controls.
- 24 Hour On Premise Central Station ASG Security’s own building features closed circuit television and electronic locks and access control, plus direct links to emergency, police, and fire services. ASG Security also maintains uninterruptible power supplies and an emergency generator to ensure service at all times. In addition, all of ASG Security’s utilities are underground. Complete redundancy is in place as required by U.L. & FM Labs.
Frozen Storage
HSRL Archives, is committed to offering industry standard refrigerated/frozen storage in our Norlake and Revco scientific commercial grade refrigerators and freezers. Our Revco Scientific Ultima II and Elite freezers will maintain temperatures of -70/-80 degrees Celsius.
Our Revco freezers are equipped with microprocessors and centrally monitored alarm contacts to ensure stable and consistent frozen storage. Our Norlake Scientific Freezers will maintain temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius and the Norlake Refrigerators will maintain temperatures of 3 degrees Celsius.
Fire Suppression
We use an FM-200 fire suppression system to protect our client’s critical data. FM-200 suppresses fire by discharging onto the surface of combusting materials. Large amounts of heat energy are absorbed from the surface of the burning material, lowering its temperature below the ignition point. FM-200 fire suppression systems have low atmospheric lifetimes, global warming, and ozone depletion potentials. Unlike Halon 1301 fire suppression systems, FM-200 systems are environmentally friendly. They provide an effective, safe method of special hazards fire suppression where a non-residue producing clean agent is essential.
